Economy catalyst for fresh department sales changes in 2008
May 11, 2009 - The economic pressures of 2008, from increasing gas prices to the housing market bust, changed consumer grocery shopping behavior, particularly in the perimeter of the grocery store.  According to recently-released department studies by the Perishables Group, the overall increase in retail prices drove supermarket dollar sales increases across the produce, deli, bakery, seafood and meat departments, while volume was generally down.  Read more...
